Battery Health Guides

Battery Health % = Full Charged Capacity ÷ Designed Capacity × 100. That is the calculation BatteryInfoView documents: Designed Capacity is the full capacity of the battery when it was completely new, and Full Charged Capacity is what it holds on a full charge today. NirSoft notes that the health of a new battery should be around 100%, and that it gradually decreases over time.

BatteryInfoView does not publish official “good / fair / poor” thresholds, so these guides explain the underlying fields first and clearly label any replacement guidance as general editorial guidance, not a tool feature.

Battery Health % Explained: Full Charged ÷ Designed Capacity

Battery Health % is Full Charged Capacity divided by Designed Capacity, times 100. Work through the calculation with the exact fields BatteryInfoView shows.

Designed Capacity vs Full Charged Capacity (mWh)

Designed Capacity is the capacity when new; Full Charged Capacity is what a full charge holds today. Why the gap between them is the health story.

When Should You Replace a Laptop Battery?

Editorial guidance on using health percentage, runtime and behaviour together when deciding about a replacement — BatteryInfoView itself publishes no replacement threshold.

Laptop Battery Calibration: What BatteryInfoView Can and Cannot Do

An honest guide: BatteryInfoView displays and logs data only. It has no calibration, repair or charge-limit function — here is what that means in practice.

Charge/Discharge Rate (mW) in BatteryInfoView, Explained

What the Charge/Discharge Rate field (usually in milliwatts) tells you about current power draw or charging speed, and why it changes moment to moment.

BatteryHistoryView: See the Battery History Windows Already Records

NirSoft’s sister tool reads the battery history Windows already stores in SRUDB.dat. See how recorded history complements BatteryInfoView’s live readings.

BatteryInfoView’s Estimated Time Fields: How They Are Calculated

The four estimated time fields are calculated from the change in capacity over the last 30 seconds. Why they are estimates, not promises.

Laptop Battery Chemistry Types Shown in BatteryInfoView

BatteryInfoView reports chemistry such as Lithium Ion, Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hydride as provided by the battery. What each label means.

Battery Serial Number and Manufacture Date: Why They Matter

Serial Number and Manufacture Date appear only if the battery provides them. Why they matter for replacement matching, and why they may be blank.
